Mobile Support Unit Aircraft Technician – Chicago, IL (Chicago-Midway)
We are seeking a Mobile Support Unit (MSU) Aircraft Technician for one of our valued clients in Chicago, IL. This role presents an exciting opportunity to work in private aviation, performing advanced troubleshooting and maintenance functions on AOG aircraft during road trips.
About the Role
As an MSU Aircraft Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and servicing aircraft systems. Your expertise in aircraft mechanics, avionics, and maintenance coordination will contribute to ensuring aircraft are returned to service safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively with scheduling, flight crews, technical support, vendors, and leadership
- Perform maintenance and servicing of all aircraft mechanical and avionics systems
- Work independently to execute assigned maintenance and avionics tasks
- Coordinate, order, receive, and inspect all tooling and materials needed to service aircraft before installation
- Inspect MSU truck, tools for calibration/operation, stocking levels, and hazmat compliance
- Arrange the shipment of core units and tooling back to designated locations
- Properly complete work order signoffs, logbook entries, shift turnovers, expense reports, and other required paperwork
- Ensure all maintenance work meets quality standards, maintenance manuals, and company policies
- Maintain a professional working relationship and uphold the brand’s reputation when engaging with others
- Tag, store, and identify aircraft components securely and safely
- Supervise the operation of special support equipment for removal and installation of major components
- Coordinate with Line Service and FBO operations to schedule aircraft movement
- Provide regular aircraft status updates and support activity reports to Maintenance Control Center (MCC) and leadership
- Display reliability, self-motivation, and professionalism in high-pressure situations
- Assist in training junior employees
- Stay up to date with company training requirements
Qualifications:
Required:
- Stay up to date with company training requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- 4+ years of combined experience in aircraft inspection, maintenance, or servicing for corporate aviation
- 2+ years of experience with Citation XL, Citation X, Beechcraft King Air, or Hawker Beechcraft 400XP aircraft
- Advanced knowledge of inspection and maintenance procedures for noted aircraft models and systems
Preferred:
- FCC license
- Formal Flight Safety Maintenance training for Beechcraft King Air, Citation XL, Citation X, or Hawker Beechcraft 400XP
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary for this role is $58.00/hour, with additional discretionary annual incentives based on performance.
